Description
The Wannabees range provide everything children need to ‘pretend’ to be the profession of their choice. They contain lots of exciting forms to fill in, stickers, and certificates that children will need to feel like they are truly ‘playing for real’.
Each pack contains approximately 45 pages of forms, stickers and certificates and will allow children to act out fun tasks such as filling out appointment cards for their teddies, giving eye tests to their friends, taking the morning register with their action figures or even writing out school reports for Mummy and Daddy! The Wannabees range currently has ‘I Want to be a Teacher’, ‘I Want to be a Doctor’ and ‘I Want to be a Café Owner’.

What our experts think
The Wannabee packs are perfect for children who like to role play jobs and professions they have seen in real life. Our testers were very excited when they were given the packs and were eager to start exploring, the school pack was particularly popular and the children enjoyed setting up their classes. Role playing situations they have encountered helps children unpack their feelings and make sense of the world around them, which is vital for social and emotional development. In addition, this kind of imaginative real world play promotes creativity and storytelling skills.
There were lots of opportunities for developing vocabulary and using it in the correct context. For children who are reluctant to speak or who are unconfident this gives them a way in and can be used to build self confidence – it worked well when children played with their peers as well as independently. Children are also encouraged to write as they create their registers, notes and lists – which is ideal for a reluctant writer as it provides them with a purpose for practicing their writing. Our testers often wanted to recreate their own classes, so the register having space for 25 children would be helpful; there also weren’t many sheets (we’d recommend photocopying them prior to starting!) Younger children may need some help as there is a degree of reading required.
