What our expert thinks

The bright colours and friendly animal faces of the characters drew our testers in and they were keen to start playing straight away. Older children likened it to Guess Who, and didn’t need any help to get started as they were familiar with the object of the game and how to ask questions to eliminate characters. Those who were unsure what questions to ask at first, quickly came to understand the premise of the game with a little adult guidance or help from the more capable children.

The game promotes attention to detail and careful listening. It also encourages children to build on their verbal communication skills and build their vocabulary. As children progressed through the games, they learnt what questions were best to ask and how to phrase them, developing their own strategies on how to win. They had to concentrate and study the characters closely when asking and answering questions and were delighted when they successfully discovered who the mystery character was!
