Testers loved watching the car race around the cardboard raceway they helped to color and design. Watching the car crash through obstacles and through the pop-ups they prepared was enjoyable for them. The learning guide was a hit with both children and parents as they moved through the challenges and “knowledge pit stops”. These activities encouraged them to explore their own ideas even further. Both children and adults enjoy coloring and individualizing the look of the tracks. Putting their own creative spin on their set was a draw and further opened up the discussion of the “cool uses” of cardboard. With some help from an adult, assembling the track and using the finished product was very satisfying and our testers were then eager to experiment.
The speed of the vehicle and the visually impactful and interactive accessories were favourites among those observed. While having fun racing the car on the track was the primary focus, using this set also facilitated purposeful discussion and additional learning opportunities regarding engineering and physics which included “knowledge pit stops” and “DIY” track recommendations.
