What our testers said
“I like that it has an upstairs because we can build a castle and make it really tall on top.” – Boy aged 5.
“I’ve drawn a massive balloon with a sad mouth and a nose. If you rub it, it all goes away.” – Boy aged 4.
What our experts think
The beautifully made wooden table was easy for an adult to assemble and our testers were instantly drawn to it and eager to play. The legs are adjustable so as children grow it can be made slightly higher. With multiple table tops and activities to choose from, the children were spoilt for choice.
They started with the chalkboard which gave the younger children the opportunity to practice their mark-making skills while encouraging the older children to be creative and expressive as they talked about what they were drawing, and enjoyed rubbing it out and starting again.
The Playhouse and Brick Tower components are on two levels which gave our testers lots of options in their play, allowing them to play together but also on their own at times.
The children loved that the Playhouse spins around on the table top, which meant they could sit in one place, but still have access to all the rooms and areas. The dolls and toys (such as a helicopter and furniture) inspired role-play games and conversations, which helps children to develop their social and communication skills.
The Brick Tower set up was ideal to encourage children to collaborate on building with Lego/Duplo together, while also giving them the opportunity to develop their fine motor skills and logical thinking.
The games and puzzles motivated children of different ages to come together and interact with each other. The older testers particularly enjoyed playing the games, but they were simple enough to also allow some of the younger children to join in and remain engaged.
The Play Dough Board was well received and the children were very excited about the number of moulds available. The younger children explored the texture of the dough with their fingers, the toddlers attempted to use the moulds, and the older children benefited from using the moulds to make dough letters.
An extremely versatile resource that engaged children of different ages and provided many hours of fun.
