Our testers loved this emergency vehicle – it promoted lots of imaginative play. We were really impressed at how the children re-enacted what they had seen in their everyday lives and on TV – it was lovely to hear them create their own characters and build important story telling skills. Re-enacting different scenarios also benefits personal, social and emotional development, as it allows children to make sense of these different situations and feelings using role play.
We really liked the fact that the set included a female police officer and that the siren had 2 tones: one of our testers noticed that it was an English and French siren! Telling different stories around the police car also promotes children’s understanding of the emergency services and provides opportunities for discussion and vocabulary development. The instructions to build were easy to follow and clear and the older children could build it on their own. Some of the accessories were rather small and not suitable for our youngest testers, but these could always be removed before they play.
