Play Nine – The Card Game of Golf

Play Nine brings the excitement of golf to the card table, combining strategy and luck for a game the whole family can enjoy. Perfect for golfers and non-golfers alike, it’s easy to learn and packed with fun.

Key Features:

  • Objective: Aim for the lowest score over nine holes. Card values range from -5 (Hole-in-One) to 12 (Out of Bounds).
  • Gameplay:
    • Each player arranges their cards into a 4×2 grid.
    • Turn over two cards to start, then draw or discard to improve your score.
    • Use strategy and the luck of the draw to reduce your total strokes.
  • Flexible Play: Games last 20 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the number of players.
  • Accessible Fun: Suitable for all ages, making it ideal for family game nights or gatherings.

Play Nine blends skill and chance, ensuring every round is unique and exciting.

Recommended by Dr Gummer’s Good Play Guide.

What our testers said

“Yes!! I’ve got another hole in one card! That’s -5 points for me!” – Boy, aged 9

“This is ideal for playing at family gatherings.” – Mother of one of the testers.

What our experts think

Our testers liked the simplicity of the game. Really easy to pick up and start playing, and with quick rounds, those with short attention spans were kept engaged. Play Nine is golf themed but this has no bearing on the game so it’s accessible to both golf and non golf players. The children played a round or two to work out the rules and were soon playing strategically.

Helpful for practising maths skills as players are required to add up their scores and subtract any of the hole-in-one cards they collect. Also good for teaching children about healthy competition while having lots of fun, and guaranteed to keep the whole family entertained.
