What our testers said

“I really want to know where polar bears live.” – Girl aged 5

“Can we find the Eiffel Tower? I really want to go up it!” – Boy aged 7

What our experts think

The bright colours and fun images on the globe instantly sparked our testers’ curiosity and they were really keen to explore the set and its components. After a relatively painless set up, most of the children were able to independently use the app (the younger testers of 4 or 5 years needed occasional support). The app magically brings the globe to life and encourages children to thoroughly explore different animals, maps, cultures, cuisines, landmarks and inventions.

There’s a good mixture of fun games for the children to play, from ones that teach the importance of balance for a happy planet, to mystery stories and quizzes. The games will help to develop attention skills, memory, problem solving skills and perseverance. The passport, stamp, boarding passes and stickers added another dimension to our testers’ play. These ‘props’ allowed them to practise their writing skills and strengthen the muscles in their hands, but also inspired some to role play their airport experiences, promoting creativity, social skills and imaginative thinking.
All in all, Orboot Our Earth was popular with our testers, especially those aged 5-8 years, and we found it to be a great way to get children interested in the wonderful and diverse planet we live on.
