Description
A colourful floating bath toy featuring a large ‘mummy’ Octopus and eight little baby water squirters. The large octopus can also be used to pour water. The Octopal babies can be stuck to the bath tiles so they don’t get lost, and have numbers to match them to the island.
What our testers said
“You can stick them on here.” Girl aged 23 months
“He giggled a lot at the squishy octopus.” Observer of boy aged 5 months
What our experts think
Toomies Octopals is a delightful bath toy that was really enjoyed by our little testers and elicited lots of giggles during bath time. The children loved the fact that you could do so many things with the toy; squirting the baby Octopals was a particular hit. This is a lovely playful way to build children’s confidence in the water. The squirters are colourful and the perfect size for little hands, and are good for developing hand and finger strength (known as fine motor control) as children fill and squeeze the toys.
The Octopals set is also a lovely toy for parents to interact with their child, using the mummy Octopal to pour a gentle shower over them or having a water fight! The number, colour and shape matching is a great way to add some extra educational value to the toy, with support from a parent; the fact that this wasn’t an essential part of play meant that it didn’t detract from the fun of the toy for the younger testers. Our parents felt that it was a good quality toy that would lend itself well to the paddling pool in the summer as well as bath time.
