Description
Junior scientists can explore fizzing, colour-changing, gelatinous experiments, all while learning about colour. Drop colour tablets into water and create a magical, walking colour. Create a magic wand using colourful jellies. Stack a petri dish to make a lava lamp. And even discover chromatography by making your own tie-dye chalk!
What our testers said
“Watch! It’s changing colours.” – Boy aged 4
“The colour tablets made different colours then I thought.” – Girl aged 6
What our experts think
My STEAM Lab Colour Science is a fun and engaging science kit that motivates children to try experiments that are brought to life with bright rainbow colours. Our testers really enjoyed the additional facts in the booklet combined with hands-on experiments, like making the “rainbow” when testing the properties of a liquid.
Adults might want to keep a close eye on children while they use the kit as the results do look like sweets, jelly, and sugar. Children also might need help to mix and pour without spilling. We found the experiments needed lots of extra materials, although these were quite easy to find around the house.
My STEAM Lab helps children learn about different materials and their properties, building their scientific vocabulary as they describe the different textures, colours, and effects. Experimenting with colours also develops children’s creativity, as they can learn what new colours can be made when mixing two or more colours together.
