What our experts think
The Marble Rush Spiral Starter Set allows children to experiment creatively with moving construction and marbles, featuring dynamic parts such as ramps and slides to explore. Engaging construction play sets like this allow children to develop logical thinking and visual processing skills as they arrange and position the different pieces and find out what works best.
This is an important part of STEM learning as it offers hands-on opportunities to creatively problem-solve, for example by finding different and innovative ways to get the marble to their desired destination. As they make predictions about what they think will work and then seeing what happens and what they could do differently, children are developing important science and engineering skills.
Older children particularly enjoyed the creative parts of the construction process, experimenting and creating courses of their own design. Although younger children required adult guidance to follow the instructions for the construction, as they used the set more they were able to build more independently. Children were also motivated to complete the build, even if they required a little support which provides a great opportunity for developing perseverance.
