What our experts think
The Marble Rush Launchpad set allows children to experiment with dynamic parts in a moving construction, offering them opportunities to develop logical thinking and creative problem-solving skills as they create a working marble course. As they work together with their peers to build the construction and work out solutions when things go wrong, children are developing important social skills such as communication, negotiation and cooperation.
Once the course was built, children were able to practice trial and error learning and creative problem-solving as they tested out what works, what doesn’t and what they can try differently. This is an important aspect of STEM play, as it allows children to experiment with concepts in engineering and science, making predictions about what they think will happen and seeing if they are right.
Although younger children in particular required adult guidance to follow the instructions for the construction, as they used the set more they were able to build more independently. Children were motivated to complete the courses, even if they required a little support which provides a great opportunity for developing perseverance.
