A laser maze that encourages children to use important STEM skills such as planning, reasoning and problem solving. The children observed the mirrors and thought logically and creatively, experimenting with different positioning to find out what worked.
This is a great example of play-based learning as while children are having fun, they are learning about important maths concepts relating to reflections and angles. Successfully completing a puzzle like this is great for developing children’s resilience too as they are encouraged to persevere and experiment with different things when they don’t get it right first time. It was great to see the children working together, communicating about what else they could try as their understanding progressed.
