The Railway starter set is an ideal jumping on point! Build this classic figure of eight with large rock tunnel/bridge. Push the travel engine along the tracks through the tunnel or over it. Use the stop and go signal to stop the train and let passengers on board.
Includes 3x Figures, 1x Signal, 1x Suitcase, 12x Curves, 2x Straights, 2x Slopes, 1x Bridge/Tunnel, 1x Bench, 2x Engines, 1x Carriage. Track layout measures 100 x 45cm. Manufactured to BRIO’s high standards and from FSC Certified wood. Each set is fully compatible with other BRIO sets, tracks and trains.
If you want to extend your track layout, Track Pack B is especially designed for use with this set. It will add a number of fun track layouts for the travel train to go along.

What our experts think
A lovely wooden railway set that encourages children to engage in imaginative play. Whilst playing, the children naturally verbalised their play making this a great toy for developing storytelling skills and building vocabulary: we were very impressed by the level of technical language that some of our testers displayed. This builds understanding of the world around them – children are learning all the time, and they can use toys like this to relate to their experiences on a real-life train for example. Storytelling and role play also promote personal, social and emotional development, as children can act out and make sense of situations through imaginative play.
The track is good for playing alongside other items from the BRIO range (or from other sets…some of our testers incorporated lego into their play). Pushing, pulling and assembling required fine motor control making this is a good toy for developing those dexterity and hand-eye coordination skills; the children did need assistance to assemble the track – but after it was made, gameplay was simple and fun!
