What our experts think
This vibrant, retro toy proves that simplicity is a good thing! It is great for developing baby’s shape and colour recognition and manual dexterity: there are lots of things for little fingers to explore, which strengthens muscles in hands and fingers (necessary for playing with more complex educational toys such as puzzles). The toy provides multi-sensory stimulation which the babies enjoyed, for example the ball rolling on the hand, the squeaking button and the smooth mirror which builds on tactile recognition and develops attention.
The case is robust and chunky enough for little hands to play with; the children liked the fact that it had a handle which they could swing it around with! Younger babies liked watching the spinning part (spun by an adult) – they found it somewhat mesmerising, there was lots of giggles and smiles. Older babies and toddlers enjoyed spinning it for themselves, learning through cause and effect logic, which promotes problem solving skills about how things work.
