The game has been designed to support number fluency as well as problem solving. Lampogo 3 was designed by Roy Clutterbuck, a primary school teacher in London. Roy created Lampogo 3 for his pupils to show them that maths can be playful and enjoyable! Lampogo 3 is for 1 – 4 players. In the box are 86 addition and subtraction number puzzles to solve. Choose the correct digits, solve the puzzle, win the card!
Lampogo 3 from Lightning Maths, can be played competitively, collaboratively or you can even practice solving the puzzles by yourself! The puzzles are presented visually and are solved moving counters, which reduces the barriers of reading words and writing, making the puzzles accessible.

What our experts think
This fast-paced maths game challenges children to think about numbers and structuring sums which is great for encouraging their numeracy and problem-solving skills. We like that children have to explain their answers, as this helps to develop their understanding of the concepts.
While the instructions were a little tricky at first, once the children had read them a few times and had a go, they quickly got the hang of it. It was great to see the children’s confidence grow as they played and shouting Lampogo! added an exciting sense of achievement.
There is additionally the opportunity for progression, with the provided extension ‘difference’ cards. The game is small and compact too, which makes it handy for getting out for a quick game.
